What should i do when older men flirt with me?

I'm a cashier at a Target store, and you wouldn't believe how many old men flirt with me! I don't really know how to react because I have to be nice, but i AM only 17, therefore a minor. How should i handle this though? They flirt with me when their wives are standing next to them, and i feel bad because i can tell their wives are jealous! Its not that i don't feel ';safe'; working there, its an upper class white suburban neighborhood, but its just uncomfortable! How can i deter the flirting without being rude? All the younger guys that come through are very respectful of me and treat me with class...why are middle aged men like this? Thanks for your opinion :)What should i do when older men flirt with me?
Some older men just like the fact of flirting with younger woman to see if they will flirt back to make them feel like they still got IT when some of them need to get some where and sit down but you can remedy this by simple ignoring them and saying just simply thank you and have a nice day. If you don't feed into it then maybe they'll take the hint that your not interested.What should i do when older men flirt with me?
Just be polite. Keep it as impersonal as possible. Stick to yes, no, and thank you sir. The sir stuff will help them realize you see them as the old farts they are. :) I work as a cocktail server in a casino, and I get it all the time. I laugh it off, and I often act like I can't tell what they are doing. Sometimes they do it just to get a rise out of you. Either way I am always polite, my money is made by their tips after all. It is all you can do. If anyone goes as far as asking me out, I inform them that I am married and not interested. That doesn't stop all of them, but as long as I know that I got it across, I don't care.

Upper class white suburban neighborhoods make you feel safe compared to what. It is up to you on how you act. You can acknowledge the wife and say something to her and ignore her husband. He will get the message and the wife will too. Not too many wives get upset with you honey we get upset our hubbies are flirting with girls their daughters age. Gross.. But I am glad it bothers you.. Don't let an old man make you feel that uncomfortable. Just talk to his wife and hopefully that will end his fantasy...hope this helps
Some might be flirting with you but a lot of the others are not.. especially if they have a wife standing there. If anything they are treating you like a kid... joking around with you, like they would any kid.
it comes with the job i mean i used to work as a waitress (and that was feaky not to mention i was only 13 but i looked 16) the whole point of it is there is nothing you can do just ignore them you';ll be rite
They are just glad to get a smile from someone as young and attractive as you. Don't read too much into it. You are considered ';illegal'; anyway. 1 touch and it's jail time.

On behalf of middle aged men, I apologize. I think most of them believe they are doing no harm with a little flirting, and hopefully you have told a few of them off here. Lots of attractive girls develop some good routines for diverting the attention with a firm look and a terse expression.
us old farts just like to please the ladys. as long as they arent rude or obnoxious, take it as a compliment. the wives arent jealous, they re probably embaressed
I think some older men see a pretty young lady and flirt without even realising, trying to revert back to their youth. Don't really think there is anything you can do to stop this though. You could always try and say something to the wife maybe, in a joking manner you could say something like ';is he always like this';, it could indirectly embarrass the man and alleviate some of the stress this causes you and also will let the woman know that you don't really like it!!

Just ignore them. Their kinda complimenting you to in a way, they must think you look very beautiful. So you can kinda take it as a compliment.
